Carey was almost 5'10 tall before she stepped up to the top model. The popularity of her among American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. Her father is a renowned geologist, who was awarded Scientist Of The Year 1979, at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Because of his work, Carey grew up all around the globe. Following her graduation from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to do modeling as a side. The idea caught the attention of an agent at Ford Model Agency New York. The model lived in France briefly, in Paris and Bordeaux. Then she returned home to New York for her college study and further to build her career as a model. She studied full-time at New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned between modeling assignments. Her interest grew in acting and began taking classes with the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She made her acting debut with a small character in 'Club Pardise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing and windsurfing, climbing up rocks as well as whitewater river rafting.
